Paris Terror Suspects Cornered With Hostage


In what seemed like a last act of desperation, the prime suspects in Wednesday’s attack in Paris fired shots at French police as the massive dragnet closed on them and holed up in a factory northeast of the city, close to Charles de Gaulle Airport, with at least one hostage.

French officials said they had made contact with the gunmen who expressed their desire to die as martyrs. Police are convinced that Saïd and Chérif Kouachi, 34 and 32, French-born brothers of Algerian immigrant parents, are the masked gunmen who pulled off France’s worst terror attack in modern times on Wednesday, when they stormed the offices of the satirical weekly paper Charlie Hebdo in ski masks armed with Kalashnikovs, and shot dead 12 people, including eight journalists and two police officers, before fleeing the scene in a getaway car.
